77th Auction, Spring Sale -
(#7)- 25.05.2025
Our spring auction in May 2025 will be the first to take place in the old Knights' Hall. This hall still appears today in its original historicist form and therefore offers our auction house a space that could hardly be more fitting. After all, we deal in a wide variety of art objects from several centuries and many different styles - not so dissimilar to the work of historicism.
The origins of the Rittersaal
The listed property at what is now Dietzgenstrasse 51-53 was acquired in 1850 by the successful art locksmith Carl Friedrich August Hauschild. Two years later, the new owner undertook extensive alterations to the building, which had previously been a single-storey building. With an additional storey and other alterations, the building became a prestigious patrician house. The ornately designed wooden balcony and the Knights' Hall behind it date from this phase and are still in their original condition today. As an art locksmith, Hauschild also used the Knights' Hall to exhibit his finest work - tournament helmets and lances are still on display there today.
